प्रभिन्नकरटैश्वैव द्विरदैरावृतं महत् । यदहन्यत मे सैन्यं किमन्यद् भागधेयत:
prabhinnakaraṭaiś caiva dviradair āvṛtaṃ mahat | yad ahanyata me sainyaṃ kim anyad bhāgadhayataḥ ||
సంజయుడు పలికెను—కపోలస్థలముల నుండి మదము జార్చు మహాబల గజరాజులతో చుట్టుముట్టబడిన నా ఈ విస్తార సేన శత్రువుల చేత నశింపబడినదయితే, విధి తప్ప మరొక కారణమేమి ఉండగలదు?
