Droṇa–Dhṛṣṭadyumna-yuddha (द्रोण-धृष्टद्युम्न-युद्धम्) — Tactical duel and allied interventions
विकर्णस्तु सुतस्तुभ्यं सुतसोम॑ महाबलम् । अभ्ययाज्जवनैरश्वैस्ततो युद्धमवर्तत,आपके पुत्र विकर्णने तेज चलनेवाले घोड़ोंद्वारा महाबली सुतसोमपर धावा किया। तत्पश्चात् उनमें भारी युद्ध होने लगा
vikarṇas tu sutas tubhyaṃ sutasomaṃ mahābalam | abhyayāj javanaiḥ aśvaiḥ tato yuddham avartata ||
మీ కుమారుడు వికర్ణుడు వేగవంతమైన గుర్రాలతో మహాబలుడైన సుతసోమునిపై దాడి చేశాడు. ఆపై వారి మధ్య ఘోరయుద్ధం ప్రారంభమైంది.
