प्रावर्तयत संग्रामे शोणितोदां महानदीम्‌ । मध्येन कुरुसैन्यानां पाण्डवानां च भारत

Transliteration

sañjaya uvāca |

prāvartayat saṅgrāme śoṇitodāṃ mahānadīm |

madhyena kuru-sainyānāṃ pāṇḍavānāṃ ca bhārata ||

Translation

సంజయుడు పలికెను—ఓ భారతా! యుద్ధమధ్యంలో అర్జునుడు బాణవర్షంతో ఆ మహారథులను వెనుదిరిగేలా చేసి, కౌరవ–పాండవ సేనల మధ్య రక్తజలమయమైన మహానదిని ప్రవహింపజేశాడు।
