अनुशासनपर्व अध्याय ९३ — तपस्, सदोपवास, विघसाशन, अतिथिप्रियता
Austerity, regulated fasting, residual-eating, and hospitality
ये तु निन्दन्ति जल्पेषु न ताउ्छाद्धेषु भोजयेत् । ब्राह्मणा निन्दिता राजन हन्युस्त्रैपुरुषं कुलम्,राजन्! जो बातचीतमें ब्राह्मणोंकी निन््दा करते हैं, उन्हें श्राद्धमें भोजन नहीं कराना चाहिये। नरेश्वर! वानप्रस्थ ऋषियोंका यह वचन सुना जाता है कि “ब्राह्मणोंकी निन्दा होनेपर वे निन््दा करनेवालेकी तीन पीढ़ियोंका नाश कर डालते हैं।” वेदवेत्ता ब्राह्मणोंकी दूरसे ही परीक्षा करनी चाहिये
ye tu nindanti jalpeṣu na tāñ śrāddheṣu bhojayet | brāhmaṇā ninditā rājan hanyus traipuruṣaṃ kulam ||
భీష్ముడు పలికెను—రాజా! సంభాషణలో బ్రాహ్మణులను దూషించే వారిని శ్రాద్ధకర్మలో భోజనానికి కూర్చోబెట్టకూడదు. నరేశ్వరా! వనవాసి ఋషుల వాక్యం ప్రకారం—బ్రాహ్మణుల నింద జరిగితే వారు నిందకుని వంశాన్ని మూడు తరాల వరకు నశింపజేయగలరు.
