अनुशासनपर्व अध्याय ९३ — तपस्, सदोपवास, विघसाशन, अतिथिप्रियता

Austerity, regulated fasting, residual-eating, and hospitality

कव्यानि ज्ञाननिछेभ्य: प्रतिष्ठाप्पानि भारत । तत्र ये ब्राह्मणान्‌ केचिन्न निन्दन्ति हि ते नरा:

kavyāni jñānaniṣṭhebhyaḥ pratiṣṭhāpyāni bhārata | tatra ye brāhmaṇān kecin na nindanti hi te narāḥ ||

భీష్ముడు పలికెను—ఓ భారతా! శ్రాద్ధకార్యానికి సంబంధించిన కవ్యాన్ని (పితృనిమిత్త నైవేద్యాన్ని) జ్ఞాననిష్ఠ బ్రాహ్మణుల ఎదుట విధిపూర్వకంగా ప్రతిష్ఠించవలెను. అలాగే బ్రాహ్మణులను నిందించని వారే మనుష్యులలో శ్రేష్ఠులు.
