अनुशासनपर्व अध्याय ९३ — तपस्, सदोपवास, विघसाशन, अतिथिप्रियता

Austerity, regulated fasting, residual-eating, and hospitality

भरतश्रेष्ठस अब जिनका वर्णन किया जा रहा है, इन सबको पंक्तिपावन जानना चाहिये। इनका वर्णन इसलिये करूँगा कि तुम ब्राह्मणोंकी श्राद्धमें परीक्षा कर सको ।।

bhīṣma uvāca | vidyāvedavratāsnātā brāhmaṇāḥ sarva eva hi | sadācāraparāś caiva vijñeyāḥ sarvapāvanāḥ ||

భీష్ముడు పలికెను—విద్యలోను వేదవ్రతాలలోను స్నాతకులై, సదాచారంలో నిమగ్నులైన బ్రాహ్మణులు అందరూ సర్వపావనులని తెలుసుకోవలెను; శ్రాద్ధకర్మలో అర్హ బ్రాహ్మణులను నిర్ణయించుటకే నేను ఇలా చెప్పుచున్నాను.
