Pitṛ-śrāddha-haviḥ-phala-nirdeśa
Offerings for Ancestors and Their Stated Results
अग्निके तेजको लोहित कहते हैं, उस लोहितसे कनक उत्पन्न हुआ। उस कनकको मैत्र जानना चाहिये तथा अग्निके धूमसे वसुओंकी उत्पत्ति बतायी गयी है ।।
Vasiṣṭha uvāca: Agneḥ tejaḥ lohitaṃ kathayanti; tasmāl lohitāt kanakaṃ utpannam. Taṃ kanakaṃ maitraṃ jñātavyaṃ; agneḥ dhūmāt ca vasūnām utpattiḥ kathitā. Arciṣo yāś ca te rudrās tathā ādityā mahāprabhāḥ; uddiṣṭās te tathāṅgārā ye dhiṣṇyeṣu divi sthitāḥ.
వసిష్ఠుడు అన్నాడు—అగ్ని తేజస్సును ‘లోహిత’ అంటారు; ఆ లోహితం నుండి ‘కనకం’ (బంగారం) పుట్టిందని చెబుతారు. ఆ కనకాన్ని ‘మైత్రం’—మిత్ర తత్త్వానికి చెందినదిగా—తెలుసుకోవాలి; అగ్ని ధూమం నుండి వసువుల ఉద్భవం చెప్పబడింది. అగ్ని జ్వాలలే ఏకాదశ రుద్రులు, అవే అత్యంత ప్రకాశవంతమైన ద్వాదశ ఆదిత్యులు; యజ్ఞాగ్నిలో సూచించబడిన వివిధ అంగారాలే ఆకాశంలో నక్షత్రమండలాలుగా జ్యోతిపుంజాలై నిలిచివున్నాయి.
