Merit and Destinations from the Gift of Cows

दमस्य तु फलं राजन्‌ शृणु त्वं विस्तरेण मे । दान्ता: सर्वत्र सुखिनो दान्ता: सर्वत्र निर्वुता:,राजन्‌! अब तुम मुझसे विस्तारपूर्वक दम (इन्द्रियसंयम)के फलका वर्णन सुनो। जितेन्द्रिय पुरुष सर्वत्र सुखी और सर्वत्र संतुष्ट रहते हैं

damasya tu phalaṁ rājan śṛṇu tvaṁ vistareṇa me | dāntāḥ sarvatra sukhino dāntāḥ sarvatra nirvṛtāḥ ||

భీష్ముడు అన్నాడు—రాజా, ఇప్పుడు దమము అంటే ఇంద్రియసంయమ ఫలాన్ని నా నుండి విస్తారంగా విను. ఇంద్రియజయులు ఎక్కడైనా సుఖంగా ఉంటారు; నియమితులు ప్రతి పరిస్థితిలో శాంతిగా, తృప్తిగా ఉంటారు.
