Adhyāya 57: Tapas–Dāna Phala
On the Fruits of Austerity and Giving
कुशवल्मीकभूयिष्ठं बभूव च यथा पुरा । ततः स राजा कुशिक: सभार्यस्तेन कर्मणा,वहाँ पहलेके ही समान कुश और बाँबीकी अधिकता हो गयी। तत्पश्चात् पत्नीसहित राजा कुशिक ऋषिका वह महान् अद्भुत प्रभाव देखकर उनके उस कार्यसे बड़े विस्मयको प्राप्त हुए। इसके बाद हर्षमग्न हुए कुशिकने अपनी पत्नीसे कहा--
kuśa-valmīka-bhūyiṣṭhaṃ babhūva ca yathā purā | tataḥ sa rājā kuśikaḥ sa-bhāryas tena karmaṇā |
ఆ స్థలం మునుపటిలాగే మళ్లీ కుశగడ్డి మరియు పుట్టలతో నిండిపోయెను. ఆ కార్యమునకు కలిగిన అద్భుత ప్రభావమును చూచి రాజు కుశికుడు రాణితో కూడ మహా విస్మయమునకు లోనయ్యెను.
