भीष्म उवाच यत्‌ किंचित्‌ कर्म मानुष्यं संस्थानाय प्रदृश्यते । मन्त्रवन्मन्त्रितं तस्थ मृषावादस्तु पातक:

Transliteration

bhīṣma uvāca yat kiñcit karma mānuṣyaṃ saṃsthānāya pradṛśyate | mantravanmantritaṃ tastha mṛṣāvādastu pātakaḥ ||

Translation

భీష్ముడు అన్నాడు—వ్యవస్థను, స్థిరత్వాన్ని స్థాపించేందుకు మనుషులు చేసే ఏ కార్యమైనా, అది సలహామంత్రణల వలె గోప్యంగా, ఆలోచించి చేసినదైనా సరే—అసత్యవచనం మాత్రం పాపమే.
