यदि त्वेतदहं कुर्यामाश्चर्य स्यात् कृतं मया । “यहाँ गुरुने जो आज्ञा दी है, उसका पालन मुझे अवश्य करना चाहिये। यदि मैं ऐसा कर सका तो मेरे द्वारा यह एक आश्चर्यजनक कार्य सम्पन्न होगा
yadi tv etad ahaṁ kuryām āścaryaṁ syāt kṛtaṁ mayā |
భీష్ముడు అన్నాడు—“నేను ఇది చేయగలిగితే, అది నా చేత సాధించిన ఒక ఆశ్చర్యకర కార్యమవుతుంది. ఈ రోజు ఇక్కడ గురువు ఇచ్చిన ఆజ్ఞను తప్పక పాటించాలి; దానిని నేను నిర్వర్తించగలిగితే, అది నా పక్షాన అసాధారణమైన కీర్తికర కార్యమవుతుంది.”
