Educational Q&A

Bhishma teaches that sustained recitation/praise—especially of sacred lineages and traditions—functions as a discipline of remembrance that purifies the practitioner, removes accumulated sin, and yields lasting well-being, even expressed as protection from decline of the senses (blindness/deafness).

In the Anushasana Parva’s instruction section, Bhishma continues advising on dharma and religious observances. Here he states the फल (result) of regularly reciting sacred genealogies/traditions: purification, release from sins, and auspicious welfare.
