नाशकत् तानि मघवा जेतु सर्वायुधैरपि । अथ सर्वेडमरा रुद्रं जग्मु: शरणमर्दिता:
nāśakat tāni maghavā jetuṁ sarvāyudhair api | atha sarve ’marā rudraṁ jagmuḥ śaraṇam arditāḥ ||
మఘవుడు (ఇంద్రుడు) తన సమస్త ఆయుధాలను ప్రయోగించినా ఆ పురాలను జయించలేకపోయాడు. అప్పుడు బాధితులై, వ్యాకులులై, సమస్త దేవతలు రుద్రుని శరణు వెళ్లారు.
