Adhyāya 152 — Bhīṣma’s Authorization for Yudhiṣṭhira’s Return to the Capital (नगरप्रवेशानुज्ञा)

पतिप्रसाद: स्वर्गो वा तुल्यो नार्या न वा भवेत्‌ । अहं स्वर्ग न हीच्छेयं त्वय्यप्रीते महेश्वरे,एक ओर पतिकी प्रसन्नता और दूसरी ओर स्वर्ग--ये दोनों नारीकी दृष्टिमें समान हो सकते हैं या नहीं, इसमें संदेह है। मेरे प्राणनाथ महेश्वर! मैं तो आपको अप्रसन्न रखकर स्वर्गको नहीं चाहती

patiprasādaḥ svargo vā tulyo nāryā na vā bhavet | ahaṃ svargaṃ na hīccheyaṃ tvayy aprīte maheśvare ||

భర్త ప్రసన్నతా, స్వర్గమా—స్త్రీ దృష్టిలో ఇవి రెండూ సమానమా కాదా అన్నది సందేహమే. ఓ మహేశ్వరా, నా ప్రాణనాథా! నీవు అసంతుష్టుడై ఉంటే నాకు స్వర్గమూ వద్దు.
