अत्रेः तपोबलप्रकाशः तथा च्यवनस्य सोमाधिकारः

Atri’s Illumination by Tapas; Cyavana and Soma-Entitlement

मृतकस्य त्रिरात्रे यः समुद्दिष्टे समश्षुते । सप्त त्रिषवर्णं स्नात्वा पूतो भवति ब्राह्मण:

mṛtakasya trirātre yaḥ samuddiṣṭe samaśnute | sapta triṣavarṇaṃ snātvā pūto bhavati brāhmaṇaḥ ||

భీష్ముడు పలికెను—మృతకసంబంధ అశౌచమున్న గృహంలో మూడు రాత్రులు వరుసగా ఉద్దిష్టాన్నం (శ్రాద్ధార్థం సమర్పించిన భోజనం) భుజించిన బ్రాహ్మణుడు, ఏడు దినములు ప్రాతః–మధ్యాహ్న–సాయంకాల సంధ్యాసమయములలో స్నానము చేయుటవలన శుద్ధి పొందును.
