शक्रेण तु पुरा देवो वाराणस्यां जनार्दन । आराधितो<भूद्‌ भक्तेन दिग्वासा भस्मगुण्ठित:

Transliteration

śakreṇa tu purā devo vārāṇasyāṃ janārdana | ārādhito 'bhūd bhaktena digvāsā bhasmaguṇṭhitaḥ ||

Translation

పూర్వకాలంలో వారాణసీలో శక్రుడు భక్తితో జనార్దనుని ఆరాధించాడు; ఆయన దిగంబర తపస్వి రూపంలో, దేహమంతా భస్మంతో కప్పబడి ప్రత్యక్షమయ్యాడు.
