Viṣṇu-sahasranāma—Yudhiṣṭhira’s Inquiry and Bhīṣma’s Recitation (विष्णोर्नामसहस्रम्)
अहन्यहनि यो दद्यात् कपिलां द्वादशी: समा: । मासि मासि च सत्रेण यो यजेत सदा नर:
bhīṣma uvāca | ahany ahani yo dadyāt kapilāṁ dvādaśīḥ samāḥ | māsi māsi ca satreṇa yo yajeta sadā naraḥ |
భీష్ముడు అన్నాడు—ఒక మనిషి పన్నెండు సంవత్సరాలు ప్రతిరోజూ ఒక కపిలా గోవును దానం చేసినా, నెలనెలా నిరంతరంగా సత్రయాగం నిర్వహించినా—ఆ ధర్మకర్మల ఫలం, తన సేవచేత అతిథి నిజంగా తృప్తి పొందే వాడి ఫలానికి సమానం కాదు.
