Gārhasthya-dharma: Vāsudeva–Pṛthivī-saṃvāda

Householder Duties and Daily Offerings

vayudeva uvāca | kuttebhyaś caṇḍālebhyaś ca pakṣibhyaś ca bhūmau annaṁ nidhātavyaṁ | etad vaiśvadeva-nāma karma | asya sāyaṁkālaṁ prātaḥkālaṁ cānuṣṭhānaṁ kriyate || etāṁs tu dharmān gārhasthyān yaḥ kuryād anasūyakaḥ | sa iha ṛṣivarān prāpya pretya loke mahīyate ||

Educational Q&A

A householder should practice daily generosity and inclusivity—offering food even to beings and persons commonly neglected—through the Vaiśvadeva observance, and should do so without fault-finding (anasūyā). Such conduct yields blessings in this life and honor in meritorious realms after death.

Vāyudeva instructs on gṛhastha duties, defining a specific daily rite (Vaiśvadeva) and its timing (morning and evening), then states the spiritual and social fruits for one who performs these household dharmas with a non-censorious attitude.
