King Duḥṣanta’s Entry into the Forest Hunt
ब्रह्मणो ब्राह्मणानां च तथानुग्रहकाड्क्षया । विव्यास वेदान् यस्मात् स तस्माद् व्यास इति स्मृत:
brahmaṇo brāhmaṇānāṁ ca tathānugrahakāṅkṣayā | vivyāsa vedān yasmāt sa tasmād vyāsa iti smṛtaḥ ||
బ్రహ్మునికీ బ్రాహ్మణులకీ అనుగ్రహం చేయాలనే ఆకాంక్షతో ఆయన వేదాలను విస్తరించి విభజించాడు. అందువల్ల ఆయన ‘వ్యాసుడు’ అనే పేరుతో స్మరించబడాడు.
