Educational Q&A

The verse presents the Mahābhārata as a comprehensive repository of sacred instruction (a ‘collection of all śruti’) and urges dharma-minded people to engage in śravaṇa (listening/recitation). It also highlights traditional reverence for Brahmins and cows as ethically significant within dharma.

Vaiśampāyana, in describing the scope and value of the Mahābhārata, states that the text includes praise of Brahmins and cows and asserts its status as an all-encompassing compendium of sacred teachings, recommending that righteous listeners hear it regularly.
