Ādi Parva, Adhyāya 47 — Janamejaya’s Sarpa-satra: Vow, Preparation, and the Onset of the Serpent Offering

समयो होपष मे पूर्व त्वया सह मिथ: कृत: । सुखमस्म्युषितो भद्रे ब्रूयास्त्वं भ्रातरं शुभे,“मैंने तुम्हारे साथ आपसमें पहले ही ऐसी शर्त कर ली थी। भठद्रे! मैं यहाँ बड़े सुखसे रहा हूँ। यहाँसे मेरे चले जानेके बाद अपने भाईसे कहना--“भगवान्‌ जरत्कारु चले गये।” शुभे! भीरु! मेरे निकल जानेपर तुम्हें भी शोक नहीं करना चाहिये”

samayo hopaṣa me pūrva tvayā saha mithaḥ kṛtaḥ | sukham asmy uṣito bhadre brūyās tvaṃ bhrātaraṃ śubhe |

“నీతో నాతో ముందే పరస్పర ఒప్పందం జరిగింది. భద్రే! నేను ఇక్కడ సుఖంగా నివసించాను. శుభే! నేను వెళ్లిన తరువాత నీ అన్నకు—‘భగవాన్ జరత్కారు వెళ్లిపోయారు’ అని చెప్పు. భీరూ! నేను బయలుదేరిన తరువాత నీవు శోకించకూడదు.”
