Jaratkāru’s Conditional Marriage Vow and Vāsuki’s Offer (जरत्कारु-विवाह-नियमः)

पित्रा पुत्रो वयःस्थो5पि सततं वाच्य एव तु । यथा स्याद्‌ गुणसंयुक्तः प्राप्तुयाच्च महद्‌ यश:,तथापि पिताको उचित है कि वह अपने पुत्रको बड़ी अवस्थाका हो जानेपर भी सदा सत्कर्मोंका उपदेश देता रहे; जिससे वह गुणवान्‌ हो और महान्‌ यश प्राप्त करे

pitṛā putro vayaḥstho ’pi satataṁ vācya eva tu | yathā syād guṇasaṁyuktaḥ prāpnuyāc ca mahad yaśaḥ ||

కుమారుడు వయస్సులో పెద్దవాడైనా తండ్రి అతనికి నిరంతరం ఉపదేశించాలి; అలా చేస్తే అతడు గుణసంపన్నుడై మహత్తర యశస్సును పొందుతాడు.
