वैशमग्पायन उवाच तद् वनं पावको धीमान् दिनानि दश पञ्च च । ददाह कृष्णपार्थाभ्यां रक्षित: पाकशासनात्,वैशम्पायनजी कहते हैं--परम बुद्धिमान् अग्निदेवने श्रीकृष्ण और अर्जुनके द्वारा इन्द्रके आक्रमणसे सुरक्षित रहकर खाण्डववनको पंद्रह दिनोंतक जलाया
Vaiśaṃpāyana uvāca | tad vanaṃ pāvako dhīmān dināni daśa pañca ca | dadāha kṛṣṇapārthābhyāṃ rakṣitaḥ pākaśāsanāt ||
వైశంపాయనుడు పలికెను—అప్పుడు ధీమంతుడైన పావకుడు (అగ్నిదేవుడు), శ్రీకృష్ణుడు మరియు పార్థుడు (అర్జునుడు) రక్షణలో, పాకశాసనుడు (ఇంద్రుడు) దాడుల నుండి కాపాడబడుతూ, ఆ వనాన్ని పదిహేను దినములు దహించెను.
