Adhyāya 203 — Tilottamā-sṛṣṭiḥ

Creation and Commissioning of Tilottamā

tat sarvaṁ prāpya tasya lobhinasya lobhaḥ uttarottaraṁ vardhamānaḥ abhavat | evaṁ sarvāṇi vastūni gṛhītvā sa teṣāṁ rājyam api hartuṁ kāmayām āsa |

Educational Q&A

Greed is self-amplifying: once indulged, it escalates from taking possessions to violating dharma by attempting to seize what is not rightfully one’s own—here, even a kingdom.

Karna describes a greedy figure who, after receiving and taking many things, becomes increasingly covetous and ultimately develops the intention to usurp the other party’s kingdom as well.
