कर्मभि: स्वकृतै: सा तु दुर्भगा समपद्यत । नाध्यगच्छत् पतिं सा तु कन्या रूपवती सती,परंतु अपने ही किये हुए कर्मोंके कारण वह कन्या दुर्भाग्यके वश हो गयी, इसलिये वह रूपवती और सदाचारिणी होनेपर भी कोई पति न पा सकी
karmabhiḥ svakṛtaiḥ sā tu durbhagā samapadyata | nādhyagacchat patiṃ sā tu kanyā rūpavatī satī ||
కానీ తనే చేసిన కర్మఫలబలంతో ఆమె దురదృష్టానికి లోనైంది; అందుచేత రూపవతియై, సద్ఆచారిణియై ఉన్నప్పటికీ ఆమెకు భర్త లభించలేదు।
व्यास उवाच
The verse emphasizes karmic causality: personal circumstances—here, misfortune in marriage prospects—are portrayed as arising from one’s own prior actions, even when one possesses beauty and virtuous conduct.
Vyāsa comments on a maiden’s plight: despite being beautiful and morally upright, she remains without a husband, and the text attributes this outcome to the consequences of her own past deeds.
