Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the inevitability of loss and the human cost behind royal and dharmic narratives. It implicitly frames grief as a natural response, while foreshadowing how personal suffering becomes a turning point that reshapes duties, guardianship, and the future course of the lineage.

Vaiśampāyana narrates that Kuntī comes upon Pāṇḍu and Mādrī lying on the ground. The sight overwhelms her with sorrow, and she begins to wail in intense distress, marking a pivotal moment of bereavement in the forest episode.
