Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the Mahābhārata’s idea that intense tapas and yogic discipline can confer extraordinary capacities, including the power to effect results through mental resolve; it also frames such power as something to be used within the aims of lineage and dharma.

A speaker addresses a Bharata ruler as “bharatarṣabha,” stating that, just as something similar has occurred, he too can generate many sons through mental intention because he possesses the strength arising from austerity and yoga—pointing to a supernatural mode of begetting heirs.
