एवमुक्तस्तया भीष्म: कन्यया विप्रसंसदि । चिन्तामभ्यगमद्‌ वीरो युक्तां तस्यैव कर्मण:,जब उस कन्याने ब्राह्मणमण्डलीके बीच वीरवर भीष्मजीसे इस प्रकार कहा, तब वे उस वैवाहिक कर्मके विषयमें युक्तियुक्त विचार करने लगे

evam uktas tayā bhīṣmaḥ kanyayā vipra-saṃsadi | cintām abhyagamad vīro yuktāṃ tasyaiva karmaṇaḥ ||

బ్రాహ్మణుల సభలో ఆ కన్య ఇలా పలికినప్పుడు, వీరుడైన భీష్ముడు అదే వివాహకర్మ విషయంలో ఏది సముచితమో, యుక్తియుక్తమైన మార్గమేమిటో అని ఆలోచనలో పడ్డాడు.
