यस्य देवो महादेवः साक्षादेव पिनाकधृक् / अंशांशेनाभवत् पुत्रो नाम्ना शुक इति प्रभुः
yasya devo mahādevaḥ sākṣādeva pinākadhṛk / aṃśāṃśenābhavat putro nāmnā śuka iti prabhuḥ
యస్య దేవుడు సాక్షాత్ మహాదేవుడు—పినాకధారి శివుడే—తన దివ్యాంశంలోని అంసాంశంతో కుమారరూపంగా అవతరించాడు; ఆ ప్రభువు ‘శుక’ అనే నామంతో ప్రసిద్ధుడయ్యాడు।

By presenting Śiva as manifesting “by a fraction of a portion” (aṁśāṁśena), the verse points to a theology where the one Supreme Lord can appear in limited, accessible forms without diminishing his transcendence—suggesting the Atman/Iśvara remains whole even when expressed through partial manifestations.
This verse is genealogical rather than instructional; its practical implication is devotional contemplation (smaraṇa) of the Lord’s aṁśa-manifestations, a common Purāṇic aid for bhakti and dhyāna that supports later Kurma Purana teachings on disciplined worship and inner recollection.
Though not naming Viṣṇu directly, it reflects the Kurma Purana’s broader non-sectarian frame: divine agency is presented as one supreme reality capable of manifesting in forms such as Śiva (Mahādeva), aligning with the Purāṇa’s Shaiva–Vaishnava synthesis.
