Kali-yuga Doṣas, the Supremacy of Rudra as Refuge, and the Closure of the Manvantara Teaching
विनिन्दन्ति महादेवं ब्राह्मणान् पुरुषोत्तमम् / आम्नायधर्मशास्त्राणि पुराणानि कलौ युगे

కలియుగంలో జనులు మహాదేవుని, బ్రాహ్మణులను, పురుషోత్తమ పరమేశ్వరుని నిందిస్తారు; అలాగే ఆమ్నాయ పరంపర, ధర్మశాస్త్రాలు, పురాణాలను కూడా అవమానిస్తారు।

By naming Puruṣottama as an object of revilement in Kali-yuga, the verse implies a decline in recognition of the Supreme Reality as the highest refuge; the loss is not of Atman itself, but of right understanding and reverence toward the Supreme Person.
No specific technique is prescribed in this line; instead it gives a Kali-yuga diagnostic: contempt for Mahādeva, Puruṣottama, and śāstra. In the Kurma Purana’s broader spiritual frame (including Pāśupata-oriented discipline), the corrective is śraddhā in guru–āmnāya, scriptural study, and devotion aligned with dharma.
By placing Mahādeva (Śiva) and Puruṣottama (Viṣṇu) together as equally dishonored in Kali-yuga, the verse reflects the Kurma Purana’s integrative stance: reverence to both forms of Īśvara is part of maintaining dharma, not a sectarian opposition.
