FAQs

This verse is genealogical rather than metaphysical; it sets the narrative ground where later teachings on dharma and the Supreme (as presented elsewhere in the Kurma Purana, including the Ishvara Gita) are illustrated through the consequences of royal actions and lineages.

No explicit Yoga practice is taught in this verse. Its function is to establish characters in the Sagara cycle; Yogic and Pāśupata-oriented instructions appear more directly in the Kurma Purana’s doctrinal sections (notably the Upari-bhāga’s Ishvara Gita framework).

It does not directly address Shiva–Vishnu unity; it belongs to the Purva-bhāga’s dynastic narration. The Kurma Purana’s Shaiva–Vaishnava synthesis is articulated more explicitly in its theological discourses rather than in this lineage statement.
