शार इत्येव शीर्णे तु नानार्थो धातु रुच्यते / एकर्णवे ततस्तस्मिन्नष्टे स्थावर जङ्गमे / तदा भवति स ब्रह्मा सहस्राक्षः सहस्रपात्

śāra ityeva śīrṇe tu nānārtho dhātu rucyate / ekarṇave tatastasminnaṣṭe sthāvara jaṅgame / tadā bhavati sa brahmā sahasrākṣaḥ sahasrapāt

‘శార’ అనే ధాతువు ‘శీర్ణ’ (క్షీణ) అర్థమున అనేక విధాలుగా చెప్పబడుతుంది. ఆ ఏకార్ణవ ప్రళయజలంలో స్థావరజంగమములు నశించినపుడు, ఆ బ్రహ్మా సహస్రాక్షుడై సహస్రపాదుడై అవతరించాడు।
