एवं तस्या व्रतस्थाया व्रतच्छिद्रं हरिर्नृप । प्रेप्सु: पर्यचरज्जिह्मो मृगहेव मृगाकृति: ॥ ५८ ॥
evaṁ tasyā vrata-sthāyā vrata-cchidraṁ harir nṛpa prepsuḥ paryacaraj jihmo mṛga-heva mṛgākṛtiḥ
ఓ రాజా పరీక్షిత్! జింక వేటగాడు జింకచర్మం కప్పుకొని జింకలా కనిపించినట్లే, దితి పుత్రులకు అంతరంగ శత్రువైన ఇంద్రుడు బయటకు మాత్రం స్నేహితుడిలా కనిపిస్తూ దితికి నిష్ఠగా సేవ చేశాడు. వ్రతాచరణలో ఏదైనా లోపం దొరికితే వెంటనే మోసం చేయాలనే ఉద్దేశంతో, గుర్తుపడకుండా చాలా జాగ్రత్తగా ఉండేవాడు.
