Priyavrata Accepts Kingship by Brahmā’s Instruction; Sapta-dvīpa Formation and Renunciation
anyasyām api jāyāyāṁ trayaḥ putrā āsann uttamas tāmaso raivata iti manvantarādhipatayaḥ.
In every day of Brahmā there are fourteen manvantaras. The duration of one manvantara, the life span of one Manu, is seventy-one yugas, and each yuga is 4,320,000 years. Almost all the Manus selected to rule the manvantaras came from the family of Mahārāja Priyavrata. Three of them are particularly mentioned herein, namely Uttama, Tāmasa and Raivata.
They are three sons born from another wife, and each became a Manu—the presiding ruler of a particular manvantara (age of a Manu).
It refers to the Manu who leads and administrates a manvantara, establishing dharma and guiding the cosmic order for that epoch.
It helps a devotee understand Bhagavata cosmology and time cycles, fostering humility and steadiness in dharma by seeing life within a larger divine order.
