FAQs

It gives the practical sequence for Śakradhvaja-sthāpana: establish Indra’s banner, worship Śacī and Indra, and on Aṣṭamī ceremonially fix the banner-pole with its cord/fastening amid instrumental music.

Alongside theology, the Agni Purana preserves operational ritual manuals—here, a festival-grade dhvaja installation protocol with timing (Aṣṭamī) and performative elements (vādyaghoṣa), reflecting its wide coverage of public and domestic religious practice.

Installing and worshipping the Śakradhvaja is a meritorious observance that honors Indra’s divine sovereignty and is traditionally associated with auspiciousness, communal protection, and the accrual of punya through correctly timed, rule-based worship.
