It teaches a practical japa-vidhi sequence: first honor the devas, then perform mental recollection/recitation (smaraṇa) of a Shiva-mantra, even from one’s bed or before beginning the day’s rites.
Alongside theology, the Agni Purana preserves actionable ritual protocol—where and when to begin practice, the order of worship, and specific mantras—showing its role as a compendium of applied religious disciplines (puja, japa, vrata, and daily conduct).
Remembering and honoring Shiva as Śambhu/Rudra/Varada at the day’s outset is presented as a purifying devotional act that aligns the practitioner’s mind with auspiciousness, protection, and grace (anugraha) through mantra-smaraṇa.
