It gives a diagnostic set of observable signs—horripilation, sweating, and solicitous asking—that function as practical markers of heightened emotional/sexual arousal in kama- and lakshana-style discourse.
Beyond theology, the Agni Purana catalogs applied knowledge about the body and behavior (lakṣaṇa), aligning with its broad coverage that includes medicine, social conduct, and practical human sciences.
By framing bodily reactions as knowable lakṣaṇas, it supports dharmic discernment and self-control—encouraging awareness of desire’s manifestations rather than heedless indulgence.
