स एष देवोऽम्बरगश्च चक्रे अन्येऽभ्यधिष्ठेत तमो निरुन्ध्यः । हिरण्मयं यस्य विभाति सर्वं व्योमान्तरे रश्मिमिवांशुनाभिः ॥८॥

IAST Transliteration

sa eṣa devo 'mbaragaś ca cakre anye 'bhyadhiṣṭheta tamo nirundhyaḥ | hiraṇmayaṃ yasya vibhāti sarvaṃ vyomāntare raśmim ivāṃśunābhiḥ ||8||

Translation

வானில் இயங்கும் இந்தத் தேவனே இதை அமைத்தான்; பிறர்மேல் ஆதிக்கமாக இருந்து இருளைத் தடுத்து நிறுத்துகிறான். யாருடைய பொன்னொளி அனைத்தையும் பிரகாசிக்கச் செய்கிறதோ—வியோமத்தின் நடுவில்—கதிர்களின் நாபிபோன்ற விரிவுகளுடன் ஒரு ரஷ்மிபோல்॥८॥

Academic Translation

This very deity, moving in the sky, has made (it so); he presides over others, restraining darkness. Golden is that by which all this shines—within the expanse of space—like a ray with its radiating spokes.

• Brahman/Īśvara as luminous consciousness (jyotis) that dispels avidyā (tamas)
• Mahavakya: Aligns with ‘prajñānaṃ brahma’ (Aitareya 3.3) insofar as the ‘golden’ shining principle is the intelligibility/light by which all appears; also resonates with ‘tat tvam asi’ as the inner light of awareness.
