sūta uvāca | śraddhaiva sarvadharmasya cātīva hitakāriṇī | śraddhayaiva nṛṇāṃ siddhirjāyate lokayordvayoḥ
Sūta
Listener: Ṛṣis (Naimiṣāraṇya frame, implied)
Scene: Sūta, seated in a forest-āśrama assembly, teaches that śraddhā alone ripens dharma and grants success in both worlds; listeners sit attentive with folded hands.
Śraddhā (faithful sincerity) is the root power that makes dharma fruitful and grants well-being here and hereafter.
No tīrtha is praised; the teaching is universal, focusing on the inner principle of faith.
No specific rite; the verse prescribes cultivating śraddhā as the enabling force behind all practices.
