Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Īśāna
Significance: Highlights the necessity of guru-upadeśa and regulated observance (time/place purity) for mantra-sādhana to bear fruit.
Role: teaching
It teaches that Shaiva practice should be grounded in Guru-upadeśa, purity of place, and disciplined timing—outer order supporting inner devotion to Pati (Shiva) and progress toward liberation.
By prescribing a regulated vrata-period, it frames Linga/Saguna-Shiva worship as a sustained sādhanā—performed in a consecrated setting under the Guru’s guidance rather than as a casual act.
A time-bound vrata beginning in the bright fortnight and maintained until amāvasyā, ideally accompanied by Guru-taught japa (e.g., Panchākṣarī), purity disciplines, and regular worship.
