Cosmic Event: brahmāṇḍa-bound cosmology questioned (lokas beyond the cosmic egg)
This verse frames a key Shaiva philosophical inquiry: whether reality is limited to the manifest cosmos (the brahmāṇḍa) or whether higher, subtler realms exist—pointing toward the Siddhānta view that the Lord (Pati) and liberating knowledge transcend merely material cosmology.
By questioning what lies beyond the brahmāṇḍa, the verse implicitly distinguishes the limited, created worlds from the transcendent Shiva-tattva. Linga-worship trains the mind to move from saguna contemplation (form and symbol) toward realization of Shiva as the supreme reality beyond all worlds.
The practical takeaway is inquiry (vicāra) supported by Shaiva sādhanā—steady japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and meditation on the Linga to pierce doubt and orient awareness toward what transcends the brahmāṇḍa.
