Narrator (Sūta Gosvāmī, relating the Pārvatīkhaṇḍa narrative)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Rudra
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: nurturing
It highlights intuitive devotion: Menā’s heart recognizes Rudra’s divine presence, while the unfolding events (Varuṇa’s arrival) show that Śiva’s will is confirmed through orderly, dharmic revelation rather than mere excitement.
Menā’s recognition points to Saguna Śiva—God knowable through form, name, and divine signs. In Shaiva practice, the Liṅga similarly serves as a sacred, accessible focus through which devotees recognize and approach the transcendent Pati (Śiva).
The takeaway is devotional discernment: steady japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with inner composure, so recognition of Śiva is grounded in śraddhā and dharma rather than impulse.
