Aftermath of Kāma’s Burning
Pārvatī’s Fear and Himavān’s Consolation
sevitaśca mahādevastvayeha tapasā vinā | garvavatyā yadadhvaṃsīddīnānugrahakārakaḥ
Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahadeva
Role: liberating
It teaches that Śiva’s anugraha (grace) is not merely earned by tapas but is awakened by sincere devotion and humility; pride is the chief obstacle that Mahādeva compassionately destroys to uplift the soul.
As Saguna Śiva, Mahādeva responds to heartfelt worship of the Liṅga with protective grace; the verse emphasizes inner surrender over external display, showing that true pūjā is free from ego.
Practice japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with humility, offer simple Liṅga-pūjā (water, bilva), and apply tripuṇḍra-bhasma as a reminder to renounce pride and seek Śiva’s compassion.
