Sannyāsa Maṇḍala Vidhi—Procedure for the Renunciate Mandala
एवन्दक्षिणमारभ्य कुर्यात्सोमान्तमीश्वरि । तद्बाह्यपंक्तौ पूर्वादिमध्यमान्तं विचित्रयेत्
evandakṣiṇamārabhya kuryātsomāntamīśvari | tadbāhyapaṃktau pūrvādimadhyamāntaṃ vicitrayet
ஓ ஈஸ்வரி! இவ்வாறு தெற்கிலிருந்து தொடங்கி சோமன் குறிக்கும் முடிவுவரை அமைக்க வேண்டும். பின்னர் அதன் வெளிப்புற வரிசையில் கிழக்கிலிருந்து நடுப்பகுதி வழியாக இறுதிவரை ஒழுங்காக அழகுற வடிவமைக்க வேண்டும்।

It emphasizes that devotion (bhakti) is strengthened by disciplined order—worship is not random, but aligned with sacred directionality and cosmic harmony, expressing reverence for Pati (Shiva) through careful, mindful arrangement.
The verse gives procedural guidance for arranging elements around the worship-space (often the Linga and its associated offerings/markings). Such ordered placement supports Saguna-upasana—approaching Shiva with form, rite, and beauty—while cultivating inner steadiness that leads toward realization.
A structured puja layout: begin from the southern side and proceed in a defined sequence up to the lunar (Soma) end, decorating the outer row from east through the middle to the end—performed with mantra-japa (e.g., Panchakshara) and focused attention.
