Sukta 8.1
अवक्रक्षिणं वृषभं यथाजुरं गां न चर्षणीसहम् । विद्वेषणं संवननोभयंकरं मंहिष्ठमुभयाविनम् ॥
avakrakṣíṇaṃ vṛṣabháṃ yathā́júraṃ gā́m ná carṣaṇī-sáham | vidvéṣaṇaṃ saṃvánano-bhayaṃkaráṃ maṃhíṣṭham ubhayā́vinam ||
இந்திரன் பகைவரின் அழுத்தத்தைத் தாழ்த்தும் வृषபன்; யஜ்ஞ வேகத்தில் சோர்வறியாதவன், மக்களிடையே வலிமைமிகு மிருகம்போல் வெல்லுபவன். அவன் பகையை கரைக்கிறான், ஒன்றுகூடலை ஏற்படுத்துகிறான்; இரு தரப்பிற்கும் அச்சம் தரவல்லவன்; ஆயினும் அவனே மிகப் பெருந்தானம் செய்பவன்—சரணடைந்தவரில் இரு சக்திகளையும் தாங்கி, இரண்டின் பயனையும் நிறைவேற்றுவான்.
