Sukta 10.13
देवेभ्यः कमवृणीत मृत्युं प्रजायै कममृतं नावृणीत । बृहस्पतिं यज्ञमकृण्वत ऋषिं प्रियां यमस्तन्वं प्रारिरेचीत् ॥
devébhyaḥ kám avṛṇīta mṛtyúṃ pra-jā́yai kám amṛ́taṃ ná avṛṇīta | bṛ́haspátiṃ yajñám akṛṇvata ṛ́ṣiṃ priyā́ṃ yámas tanváṃ prá arirecīt ||
தேவர்களிடையே யாரை அவன் மரணத்திற்காகத் தேர்ந்தான், மேலும் சந்ததிக்காக யாரை அமரத்துவத்திற்காகத் தேரவில்லை? அவர்கள் ப்ருஹஸ்பதியை யஜ்ஞமாக—அன்பிற்குரிய ரிஷியாக—அமைத்தனர்; யமன் தன் தனுவை முன்னே விரித்தான்—மர்த்திய உடலையே அந்தப் புலமாக நிறுவி, அங்கே புனிதச் செயல் நிறைவேறவும் அதைக் கடக்கவும் வழி செய்தான்.
