Sukta 1.73
देवो न यः पृथिवीं विश्वधाया उपक्षेति हितमित्रो न राजा । पुरःसदः शर्मसदो न वीरा अनवद्या पतिजुष्टेव नारी ॥
devó ná yaḥ pṛthivī́ṃ viśvá-dhāyā upa-kṣéti hitá-mitro ná rājā́ | puráḥ-sadaḥ śárma-sado ná vīrā́ anavadyā́ patí-juṣṭeva nā́rī ||
தேவன் போல அவர் அனைத்தையும் தாங்கும் பூமியில் வாசம் செய்கிறார்—‘ஹிதமித்ர’ (நலமளிக்கும் நண்பன்) போல், அரசன் போல இசைவான கூட்டுறவுகளுடன். அவர் ‘புரஃஸத்’ (முன்னணியில் அமர்பவன்), ‘ஷர்மஸத்’ (அமைதியில் அமர்பவன்), வீரர்கள் போல; குற்றமற்றவர், கணவனால் நேசிக்கப்படும் மனைவி போல.
