तत स्सीतामपश्यंस्तु रावणस्य निवेशने।शोकसागरमासाद्य न पारमुपलक्षये।।।।
tataḥ s-sītām apaśyaṃs tu rāvaṇasya niveśane |
śoka-sāgaram āsādya na pāram upalakṣaye ||
பின்னர் ராவணனின் இல்லத்தில் சீதையை காணாததால், நான் துயரக் கடலில் வீழ்ந்தேன்; அதன் அப்பால் கரை—அதாவது முடிவு—எனக்குத் தெரியவில்லை।
