FAQs

The sage Mārkaṇḍeya is speaking, addressing a king referred to as “Rājan” (“O king”).

The verse points to the divine principle expressed through Brahmā, Viṣṇu, and Īśāna (Śiva), describing that deity as the Lord (prabhu) and imperishable (avyaya).

It frames instruction as attentive listening and clear teaching—urging the listener (the king) to receive sacred knowledge carefully, especially regarding the enduring nature of the divine.
