Buddhi (personified Intelligence)

Concept: Buddhi identifies herself and requests attentive listening: discernment functions as a messenger of higher principles; hearing (śravaṇa) is required for right action.

Application: Practice ‘inner śravaṇa’: when clarity arises, listen fully before reacting; in relationships, announce intention transparently and communicate messages faithfully.

Primary Rasa: shanta

Secondary Rasa: vira

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"Buddhi arrives before a ‘mahābhāga’ seated on a lotus-seat, her hands holding a scroll sealed with a lotus emblem. FAQs

Buddhi (Intelligence) speaks, presenting herself as a messenger sent from the “great ones” (mahatām) to deliver their instruction.

The verse highlights receptivity: one should listen attentively to the counsel and message conveyed by wise and virtuous authorities.

Indirectly, it supports a core devotional ethic—humble listening (śravaṇa) to authoritative guidance—though the verse itself is framed more broadly as receiving the message of the great.
